چکیده

Kola nut (Cola nitida) is chewed in many West African cultures and it used ceremonially, industrially, medicinally economically. The aim of this study was to assess the phytochemical properties antibacterial activity Cola nitida seeds. seeds were purchased, dried then powdered for screening extraction. Ethanol aqueous (hot water) extracts study. each extract at 30 mg/ml 60 tested on four bacterial isolates; Salmonella typhi, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa Escherichia coli using disc diffusion method Mueller Hinton agar. results revealed presence various potent phytochemicals such as alkaloids, polyphenols, tannins, flavonoids glycosides. zones inhibition ranged from 0.0 mm 28.0 both concentrations ethanol 31.0 extract. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) 7.5 30.0 3.75 No minimum bactericidal concentration recorded. Analysis variance (ANOVA) performed data showed that there significant differences (P<0.05). purified can be treat infections caused by these selected species.
